Hello, I’m Cuauhtemoc “C-moc” Sandoval, founder of 111th Meridian Projects. After 15 years in global marketing and advertising, I returned to school to pursue a Master of Arts in Art History at the University of Utah. 111th Meridian Projects is the next phase of my commitment to Utah's cultural community. It builds on my experience getting to know so many amazing creators and collaborators while on the boards of the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, the Salt Lake City Arts Council, and the Utah Arts Festival. It brings together my deep love for our local arts scene with my academic research in contemporary art.

What is 111th Meridian Projects?
First, it’s partly the answer to “what are you going to do after you graduate with your Master’s in Art History?” It will serve as the home for my creative projects and research after graduation. My ambition is for this to include curating exhibitions, writing short essays, working with artists on site-specific installations, and multimedia activations.
Why 111th Meridian?
The 111th meridian west is the longitudinal, cartographic line used to carve out new western territories after the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, also known as the Mexican Cession. This human-imposed line offers a springboard for exploring how different relationships to land shape our sense of place and belonging. I aim to investigate how these shifting boundaries inform how our local landscape holds memory, shapes identity, and reveals the deep layers of history beneath our feet.
Are you a non-profit? Can I donate?
Not quite yet! I am currently setting up a fiscal sponsorship so we can accept tax-deductible donations and apply for non-profit grants. In the meantime, I'm laying the groundwork for our first project.
